In this article, we will briefly go over how to use the Diamond VC500 and convert VHS to DVD. Now, we all know that VHS cassettes degrade after awhile. Therefore, it’s really important to preserve that content. Because we realize that there’s a lot of important video footage out there on VHS, Diamond Multimedia has come up with the VC500 VHS to DVD Digital File Converter. It offers the perfect solution to get that video from VHS format onto DVD or digital files – all through the use of your PC.
First, Connect the Hardware
On the VC500 unit, there is a USB connector. First, connect the USB connector to an available USB 2.0 port on your laptop or PC.
Then, connect the A/V composite connectors from the Diamond VC500 to the red, white and yellow Composite ports on the back of your VCR. An A/V composite RCA cable is included. Your VCR will be labeled Video Out. Connect the yellow cable to the yellow video out of the VCR. Then, connect the red and white cable to the audio out And you’re ready to go. It’s as simple as that.
Second, Install the Driver and Software
The Diamond VC500 comes with an installation disk. Install the software on your laptop or PC- it is called PowerDirector 12. Furthermore, PowerDirector is an easy-to-use software and will get you up and running in no time. Select “Full Feature Editor” modules to enter video capture interface. If you get the User Account Control warning just click Yes to continue to the screen below:
Click on the “Capture” button to start capturing your video. From there, you can use the PowerDirector software to create storyboards, add text and enjoy other editing features. Finally, when you are ready to burn a DVD disc of your edited video that you’ve just captured from your VCR, just click on “Create Disc“. The VC500 will then burn your video onto a blank DVD that you have inserted.
